BARFIE is the network of institutions and professionals, which main objective is to promote intercultural education through children’s books and media. The project is being completed in 11 countries in Europe – Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czeh, Danmark, Finland, France, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Great Britain and is being coordinated by Kinderliteraturhaus in Wien.

Electronic Catalogue of BARFIE Books

One of the important result of the ARFIE Conference in Warsaw is the creating of the electronic catalogue of BARFIE Intercultural Books (130 titles from 16 European countries). The Catalogue is avaiable in English version on CD-ROMs and on the website of our Library

The Catalogue shows the photo of the cover of each book, short information about its plot and presented problems, information about the author and the editor.

The Third International EDM Reporter Conference, organised by the Public Library in Ursus

On 13th January 2007 the Library led the educational workshops for the students from the Institute of Scientific Information and Librarian Studies in the University of Warsaw. The subject of workshops were the innovative pedagogical and intercultural methods of educating children in the libraries.

On Monday 3rd July 2006 the Public Library organised 4-hour workshops for students from Warsaw University. The workshops had been planned in the cooperation with Centrum Edukacji Bibliotekarskiej, Informacyjnej i Dokumentacyjnej CEBID (The Centre of Librarian, Information and Documentary Education). The subject of the workshops were intercultural education and the pedagogical methods of working with children proposed by Klanza organization.
